Leaked documents expose US ‘Ministry of Truth’
Whistleblower files suggest the government sought to ‘operationalize’ social media sites to combat supposed disinformation
The Joe Biden administration planned to use its now-shelved Disinformation Governance Board (DGB) to make social media platforms remove posts the government deemed false, according to leaked documents obtained by Republican lawmakers.
GOP Senators Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Josh Hawley (Missouri) cited the whistleblower files in an open letter to Department of Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas published on Wednesday, in which they pressed for more details on the controversial DGB.
The department “planned to coordinate efforts to leverage ties with social media platforms to enable the removal of user content,” the senators said in a press release, adding that it sought to use Big Tech sites to “enforce its agenda.”
Iran shuts down nuclear watchdog’s cameras
Tehran says it will stop ‘voluntary’ cooperation with IAEA outside of Nonproliferation Treaty
Tehran has announced it is ceasing “voluntary” cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) outside of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), on Wednesday. The move would see the UN nuclear watchdog’s cameras at the Iranian nuclear facilities dismantled if they are not covered by the NPT safeguards, the Iranian authorities have explained.
The announcement came as Iran shut down an On-Line Enrichment Monitor (OLEM) and a flow meter set up by the IAEA at one of its nuclear sites. Tehran has accused the UN watchdog of not “appreciating” the “extensive cooperation” it had with the Iranian authorities.

The stepped-up preparations follow multiple upgrades to Israel’s F-35 fighter jet and a massive round of air drills
The Israeli Air Force has developed the ability to fly bombing raids into Iran without the need for midair refueling, the Jerusalem Post reported, noting that the military updated its options against the Islamic Republic after recent improvements to Israel’s F-35 stealth jet and the fielding of new one-ton bomb.
While the US-made plane previously required refueling in order to reach Iran – meaning a stop at a friendly air base or a link-up with an airborne tanker – the military has overcome that obstacle, according to the Post.

DHS Issues National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin (STAY AWAY FROM MALLS, SPORTING EVENTS THEATERS etc)
WASHINGTON – Today, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin regarding the continued heightened threat environment across the United States. This is the sixth NTAS Bulletin issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) since January 2021 and it replaces the current Bulletin that was set to expire at 2:00 PM ET today.
“As recent acts of violence in communities across the country have so tragically demonstrated, the nation remains in a heightened threat environment, and we expect that environment will become more dynamic in the coming months,” said Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas.

Monkeypox upgraded to same level of severity as leprosy and malaria
Monkeypox has been upgraded to the same category as diseases such as plague and leprosy, with doctors required to notify health authorities of each case.
From Wednesday doctors will be legally required to inform their local council or health protection team if they suspect a patient has the virus, while laboratories must inform the UK Health Security Agency ( UKHSA) if a sample is positive.
Canada to introduce mandatory monkeypox quarantine
As per a Health Canada announcement, “In the current outbreak, those at risk of infection are those who have had close or intimate contact with a person who has monkeypox.”
“During your travel, you may be subject to procedures at your destination put in place to limit the spread of monkeypox, such as isolation, should you become infected. You may have limited access to timely and appropriate health care should you become ill, and may experience delays in returning home.”
This announcement also suggests that, much like COVID, the Canadian government plans on utilizing COVID infrastructure to track individuals suspected of having contacted those with confirmed monkeypox infections.
