Russia demands rubles for grain exports
Moscow has expanded the list of commodities that must be paid for in Russian currency
The Russian government has added grain, sunflower oil and extracted meal to the list of exports that must be paid for in rubles. A resolution giving effect to the decision was adopted on Friday and published on the official portal of legal information.
It also provides for a one-year extension of duties to be paid in the national currency in respect of exported sunflower oil and sunflower meal until August 31, 2023.

SpaceX has received the green light to start connecting its orbital Starlink internet service to US-registered moving vehicles, including boats, planes and cars. Regulators shot down objections to the scheme raised by the firm’s corporate rivals.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced its decision on Thursday, noting that SpaceX would be permitted to operate “unlimited Ku-band” – frequencies largely used for satellite comms – “in the territorial waters of the United States and aboard US-registered vessels throughout international waters worldwide.”

The US military will run a “capstone test” for a new high-power microwave weapon, according to Pentagon developers, who also noted progress on a separate microwave system intended to bring down enemy “drone swarms.”
Final trials for the High-Powered Joint Electromagnetic Non-Kinetic Strike Weapon (HiJENKS) will be conducted jointly by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Office of Naval Research at a military base near California’s China Lake, part of intensive tests this summer which marked the end of a five-year development project.
Biden announces permanent US military installation in Poland in response to “threats from Russia”

“I’m announcing the U.S. will enhance our force posture in Europe and respond to the changed security environment, as well as [strengthen] our collective security,” he said during a June 29 briefing of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) at the Spanish capital Madrid. “We’re going to continue to adjust our posture based on the threat, in close consultation with our allies.”

A Chinese company’s purchase of farmland in North Dakota just down the road from a US Air Force base that houses sensitive drone technology has lawmakers on Capitol Hill worried about potential espionage by Beijing, according to a report.
Fufeng Group, a Shandong, China-based company that specializes in flavor enhancers and sugar substitutes, recently purchased 300 acres of farmland near Grand Forks, North Dakota, a rural area that lies about a 90-minute drive from the Canadian border.

AN AMERICAN pilot has warned that a nationwide staff shortage is making flights unsafe for passengers.
Dennis Tajer, from the Texas-based pilots union Allied Pilots Association, has said there is currently an "inhumane" level of pressure on pilots, something he thinks is a concern for travellers in the US.
Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Mr Tajer said passengers should be worried about their safety because of the effect that the shortage is having on pilots.
