Last month, Hersh published an article on Substack that said the CIA planted a cover story for the Nord Stream bombings that was fed to The New York Times and the German newspaper Die Zeit. Likely this was in direct reaction to Hersh's findings. A source within the US intelligence community told the famed Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, "It was a total fabrication by American intelligence that was passed along to the Germans, and aimed at discrediting your story."

The Biden administration is discussing a potential deal that would see Iran halt progress on parts of its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief, Axios reported on Monday.
American officials have discussed the hypothetical agreement with their European and Israeli counterparts in recent weeks, the news site reported, citing unnamed Israeli officials, Western diplomats, and “US experts.”
US House speaker to meet with Taiwan’s leader
Beijing condemned the upcoming sit-down as a “disastrous” mistake and vowed to retaliate
US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will meet with Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen in California later this week, his office said in a statement. China has repeatedly urged against the sit-down, saying it would take tough countermeasures in response.
McCarthy confirmed the meeting in a media release on Monday, saying he would host a “bipartisan” event with Tsai at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California on April 5. Other lawmakers are also set to make an appearance, including Democratic Rep. Pete Aguilar and leaders of the House select committee on China, according to an invite list obtained by CNN.
US Expects Any Future War With China Across Taiwan Strait Would be 'Quick'
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US military planners believe that any future war with China over Taiwan would start, escalate and be concluded very quickly and that it would focus on an intense exchange of missiles across the 100 mile wide Taiwan Strait, former Acting Secretary of the Army John Whitley told a Washington conference.
"The next war is likely to be very fast [with] missile exchanges over the Taiwan Strait," Whitley told an Atlantic Council conference on the military lessons to be learned from the first year of the Ukraine conflict on Monday.
Mystery drone downed by IDF in Israeli airspace was sent by Iran
Iran sent the drone into Israel following reports attributing several attacks by Israel on Iranian targets and their proxies in Syria in recent days.
The IDF confirmed that the drone that invaded Israeli airspace from Syria and that it brought down on Sunday was Iranian.
It also said it was shot down using special physical electronic means.
Initially, the details of the identity of the drone and how it was brought down were partially censored, since usually the IDF has shot down such invading drones in the past and wants to keep its various electronic capabilities quiet so as not to tip off its enemies.
Alleged Israeli airstrike hits in Syria, 4th in under a week - report
Several airstrikes attributed to Israel by foreign reports have struck Syria throughout the week. Some reportedly killed IRGC members in the country.
An alleged Israeli airstrike targeted the Damascus area on Monday night in the fourth such strike blamed on Israel in Syria in the past week, according to Syrian state media.
Initial reports indicated that casualties were caused after al-Kiswah, south of Damascus, was hit in the strikes. A site in Jebel el Mania was also reportedly hit in the strikes. Two civilians were killed in the strike, according to the Syrian state news agency SANA.
