Coups and terrorism threaten Africa if the conflict in Ukraine does not end soon, Rome warns
If the military conflict in Ukraine does not come to an end soon, the resulting famine could trigger political instability in Africa, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio warned during a press conference on Saturday. He also suggested “the proliferation of terrorist organizations and coups d’etat” may be on the horizon.
“The World War for Bread is already underway and we must stop it,” he said.
Di Maio urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to “come to the table” and reach a peace agreement as soon as possible, including a specific agreement on wheat.
Lebanon issues warning to Israel

A battle over Mediterranean waters rich in natural gas deposits bubbled up on Sunday when Lebanese President Michel Aoun warned Israel that trying to tap the offshore riches without first resolving a territorial dispute would be seen as a “provocation.”
“Any action or activity in the disputed area represents a provocation and an aggressive action,” Aoun said on Sunday in a statement. He made his comments after a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel arrived in the disputed area, where London-based upstream firm Energean plans to start pumping gas from the Karish field under contract with the Israeli government later this year.

British Government Allegedly Sponsored War Propaganda Videos For Ukraine
The Russian Defense Ministry released what it claimed to be staged combat scenes filmed for propaganda use on behalf of the Ukrainian government and paid for by the British government on Friday. The video footage looks eerily similar to a war movie.
According to a report by RT, the filming of the videos took place on May 28 in the town of Meshkovka in Ukraine’s Nikolaev Region, the ministry said. A train station of the same name is located on the outskirts of the provincial capital in the south of the country.

The House Judiciary Committee voted this week to advance a gun control bill in the wake of a deadly shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
The final vote fell along party lines, with every committee Republican voting against the legislation and every committee Democrat voting to advance it.
Splits between Democrats and Republicans were on full display during the hearing, which focused on the “Protecting Our Kids” Act, H.R. 7910.
That bill, among other provisions, would ban the sale of “any semiautomatic centerfire rifle or semi-automatic centerfire shotgun that has, or has the capacity to accept, an ammunition feeding device with a capacity exceeding 5 rounds” to citizens below the age of 21; currently one only needs to be 18 to buy such a weapon.
