Washington reportedly plans to deliver Norwegian-developed NASAMS surface-to-air missile system to Kiev
The US plans to announce as soon as this week that it has purchased “an advanced medium-to-long range surface-to-air missile defense system” for Ukraine, a number of news agencies reported on Sunday and Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The Associated Press quoted a source as saying that the weapon in question is the Norwegian-developed NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested the NASAMS to be delivered to his country when he addressed the Norwegian parliament in late March.

The Group of Seven (G7) will pledge to provide support to Ukraine in all possible forms “for as long as it takes,” according to a draft communique of its ongoing summit, seen by Bloomberg.
The three-day meeting of the G7 leaders started on Sunday in Bavaria, Germany, with the Ukrainian conflict dominating the agenda.
“We will continue to provide financial, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support and stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes,” reads the draft of the leaders’ statement.

Deutsche Bank warns the US is heading for a deeper recession than previously expected
Deutsche Bank has said the US economy is heading for an earlier recession than the investment bank previously expected, which will drive up unemployment by almost two percentage points according to a new report from Market Insider. Since the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 75 basis points last week — for its biggest hike since 1994 — Wall Street analysts have downgraded their forecasts for the US economy.
Deutsche was the first major bank to predict a US recession in April. It has been followed by others such as Nomura, and many more analysts have since said a severe and sustained economic decline is a distinct possibility. The Fed’s “aggressive hiking path” means the economy is going to slow sooner than previously thought, Deutsche’s economists said in a note to clients published Friday and seen by Insider on Tuesday.

Up to 40,000 Army National Guard troops - around 13% of the force - could be fired for not getting the mandated COVID-19 vaccine (which has limited efficacy against Omicron, doesn't stop transmission, has been linked to elevated heart problems, and has been mandated for a healthy demographic that rarely dies of the disease).
Guard soldiers have until Thursday to get the jab, according to the Associated Press, which notes that between 20% and 30% of Guard soldiers in six states remain unvaccinated.

A study of Covid patients hospitalised between 1 March 2020 and 4 April 2020 was conducted at facilities overseen by Northwell Health, New York State’s largest health system. Among the 2,634 patients whose outcomes were known, the overall death rate was 21%, but it rose to 88% for those who received mechanical ventilation. Simply put, most patients died after being placed on a mechanical ventilator.
The study was conducted by researchers at the Northwell Covid-19 Research Consortium, submitted for publication in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on 16 April and published on 22 April 2022, see HERE.
