US Tries to Restrain Russia: Biden Sends 3,000 to Eastern Europe

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US President Joe Biden signed an Executive Order augmenting Operation Atlantic Resolve in Europe with 3,000 reserve personnel, Joint Staff Director for Operations Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Sims said on Thursday.

"Today, the president signed an Executive Order approving the mobilization of select reserve forces… with no more than 3,000 personnel augmenting the armed forces in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve," Sims said.

Operation Atlantic Resolve, which provides combat-credible forces to Europe, will also be newly designated as a contingency operation, Sims said.

US Wanted to Drop Mention of Inviting Ukraine to NATO in Bloc's Communique

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - US officials involved in the development of the communique at the NATO summit in Vilnius wanted to remove any mention of a membership "invitation" for Ukraine from the document after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's criticism of the alliance, Washington Post has reported, citing sources familiar with the talks.

On Tuesday, the NATO summit adopted a communique saying that "Ukraine's future is in NATO," but not extending an official invitation. Zelensky slammed the document, saying that it was "unprecedented and absurd" that NATO set no time frame neither for granting Ukraine membership nor for formally inviting it.

Lavrov, Blinken Participate in ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Indonesia

JAKARTA, July 14 (Sputnik) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken are participating in the foreign ministers' meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Indonesia's capital Jakarta, both wearing traditional Indonesian shirts, a Sputnik correspondent reported Friday.

The ministers traditionally arrived at the meeting wearing national shirts. With Indonesia chairing ASEAN and EAS this year, the organizers have chosen batik shirts made of hand-dyed fabric with intricate patterns.

A drone went down and exploded early on Friday in the Russian city of Kurchatov, an industrial hub adjacent to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, the governor of Kursk Region has said.

“Fortunately, none of the residents were hurt. Critical facilities weren’t damaged,” Roman Starovoyt wrote on his Telegram channel.

The explosion caused minor damage to the facade of an apartment bloc, while shattering some windows, the official said, adding that his administration will help residents to carry out repairs.

The bill, which was approved in the third and final reading on Friday, bans medical interventions aimed at changing sex, as well as relevant procedures to change the legal status of patients undergoing them.

“There’s currently no data confirming the fall [of the North Korean missile] in our exclusive economic zone,” Maria Zakharova wrote on Telegram on Friday.

UN Assistant Secretary-General Khaled Khiari claimed on Thursday that during a test-firing the day before, a North Korean ballistic missile “flew around 1,000km… before falling into the sea, inside the Russian Federation’s exclusive economic zone.”

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh claimed on Thursday that US President Joe Biden offered his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan more than $11 billion in IMF assistance to ratify Sweden’s bid to join the NATO bloc.

In an article posted to his Substack account, Hersh wrote that he had been informed by an anonymous source that “Biden promised that a much-needed $11-13 billion line of credit” would be established for Türkiye by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This was to be in return, Hersh suggested, for Erdogan removing Ankara’s objection to Stockholm joining the US-led military bloc ahead of the NATO summit that took place this week in Lithuania.

Russian Parliament Passes Digital Ruble Bill

Russia’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) project, the digital ruble, has taken a step closer to reality.

On July 11, the lower chamber of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State Duma, passed the digital ruble bill in the third reading. The legislation now moves to the assembly’s upper chamber, the Federation Council, and, if passed, to the president’s desk.

The bill, which was last amended at the end of June, sets the legal definitions of “platform, ” participants,” and “users,” as well as the general guidelines for the CBDC ecosystem.

France Deploys 130,000 Officers For Bastille Day Following Riots

Interior Ministry will again mobilize a total of 130,000 police officers for street rallies on Thursday and Friday evenings on France’s biggest national holiday, the government said.

The extraordinary security measure will be the same as during the riots, with police and gendarmerie out on the streets en masse. The Interior Ministry will also deploy helicopters and armored vehicles to maintain order. From Thursday evening to Saturday dawn, 130,000 police and gendarmes will be on duty for shorter or longer periods, with 40,000 firefighters on duty at night.

Germany's Leading Arms Maker To Open Tank Factory In Ukraine

Rheinmetall, Germany’s leading arms maker, will open a plant to manufacture tanks and other armored vehicles in Ukraine within the next 12 weeks as the West is looking to boost Ukraine’s weapons industry.

Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger told CNN that the company will also train Ukrainians how to use and maintain the tanks they manufacture at the plant. He said Ukrainians need to learn how to "help themselves" and cannot rely on Europeans and Americans for maintenance.

Philippines Unveils New CCTV System Command Center, Plans Facial Recognition Procurement

A massive video surveillance communications and command center with more than 400 high-definition CCTV cameras has gone operational in Pasig City, a highly urban area in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. The government also plans to procure a facial recognition capability for the system.

The project, overseen by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), costs 300 million Philippine Pesos (US$5.5 million) and is meant to enhance security in the area, reports Philippine News Agency (PNA).

We Are Starting To Experience The Apocalyptic Weather Of The End Times

Have you noticed that we are being hit by an endless series of weather emergencies?
