Ukraine 'Ready' To Give Up Crimea, Says Zelensky Advisor
There has been much talk and reporting of the coming Spring counteroffensive by Ukraine forces, but with the fight for Bakhmut not going so well for Kiev, there's also been talk of the need for compromise, at a moment Ukrainian casualties in the east are believed to be high.
Last week we reported on President Volodymyr Zelensky's voicing rare doubts concerning Bakhmut - as if preparing his people for news of a devastating defeat. And now, on Wednesday, the Financial Times is reporting the single most important development to come out of the conflict in a long time: Zelensky's office says he's ready to compromise on the future of the Crimean peninsula.
China Firmly Opposes US-Taiwan Contacts Following Meeting Between McCarthy, Tsai
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday that Beijing firmly opposes and strongly condemns official contacts between the United States and Taiwan.
The spokesperson called on Washington to stop upgrading relations with Taiwan while reiterating China's readiness to take "strong and resolute measures" to defend the country's sovereignty.
Macron-Xi Talks: French President Wants to ‘Relaunch Strategic and Global Partnership With China’
On Wednesday, Macron stressed that Europe should maintain its economic relations with China, despite unbalanced trade relations with Beijing.
French President Emmanuel Macron and EU chief Ursula von der Leyen are due to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday as part of the two’s visit to the Asian country.
Later in the day, Macron and Von der Leyen will each meet separately with Xi before they hold trilateral talks in the evening.

A major meeting of top envoys from Saudi Arabia and Iran is expected to happen in Beijing on Thursday, as the next significant step in the China-brokered rapprochement and normalization of ties between the longtime enemies takes shape.
As Reuters underscores, "The meeting between Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amirabdollahian, will be the first formal meeting between Saudi Arabia and Iran's most senior diplomats in more than seven years."

The US is no longer the power it once was, and has failed to rally the Arab world against Iran and curtail its nuclear program, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a speech to senior officials on Tuesday.
“Facts show that America was weaker under Obama’s administration than Bush’s administration. The US was weaker under Trump’s administration than the way it was under Obama’s administration. The US is weaker under [Joe Biden’s] administration than it was under Trump’s administration,” Khamenei proclaimed, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency.
Saudi Arabia Now Leading Regional Embrace Of Assad
It's being widely reported that Saudi Arabia is pushing for a regional embrace of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad, more than a decade after Syria was booted from the Arab League due to the conflict which burned starting in 2011, chiefly for Damascus' anti-demonstration crackdown.
Reuters first reported this week that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan is planning to extend a formal invitation for Assad to attend an Arab League summit in Riyadh, planned for May 19. This will reportedly take place in person as bin Farhan is expected to soon travel to Damascus. Bloomberg is calling this a "win for Iran".
Mexico Plans to Join BRICS Amid Growing Tensions with US
Mexico has expressed its interest in joining the BRICS group of emerging economies, which currently consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The Mexican Foreign Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, said that Mexico shares the vision and values of the BRICS and hopes to deepen its cooperation with them in various fields, especially in medicine and trade.
Israel ‘ready’ to attack Iran, can do so without US help: IDF chief
Israel is “ready” to attack Iran and can do so even without support from the United States, Israeli media quoted IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi as saying on Wednesday.
“We are ready to act against Iran. The Israeli army has the ability to strike both in distant countries and near home,” i24NEWS quoted Halevi as telling the IDF’s army radio.
IAF strikes Gaza in response to rockets fired after al-Aqsa clashes
Overnight, 10 rockets were fired from Gaza to Israel with one hitting a factory in Sderot.
The IAF targeted two Hamas weapons manufacturing and storage sites in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning after 10 rockets were fired in three waves from the Gaza Strip towards the Sderot area and Yad Mordechai in response to clashes that broke out at al-Aqsa on Tuesday night, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.
It later also struck a military compound and multiple military positions controlled by the terrorist organization.

The nephew of former President John F. Kennedy and son of former senator and Presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to run for president in 2024 as a Democrat, potentially challenging Joe Biden for the party's nomination.
Kennedy Jr., 69, is an environmental activist lawyer and vaccine critic. Last month he said he was considering a run for the Democratic nomination. He said then that he would run on progressive issues and Biden seeking reelection would not deter his decision.

The Monday filing referred to a recent deposition by JPMorgan employee Mary Erdoes, who runs an asset management division of the bank where Epstein was a client.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning American travelers to take precautions and avoid non-essential travel to the African nations of Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea due to ongoing outbreaks of the deadly Marburg virus disease.
The Marburg virus disease is a close cousin of Ebola that can kill as many as 90 percent of the people it infects if left untreated. The virus can be spread through “blood or body fluids of a person infected with or who has died from Marburg.”

WHO Reveals ‘Staggering’ New Global Infertility Statistics – Experts Baffled
A new World Health Organization (WHO) report has revealed that a staggering one in six people worldwide are now infertile and unable to conceive – and experts are baffled.
While the WHO declined to speculate on what is causing the worldwide infertility crisis, the report comes amid warnings of declining sperm counts worldwide.
Published on Tuesday, the report stated that as of 2022, 17.5% of the global population had experienced infertility. To arrive at that figure, WHO researchers analyzed more than 130 separate studies and found similar results across the world.
U.S. Crops Are Being Absolutely Devastated By Nightmarish Disasters From Coast To Coast
I honestly did not know that things were this bad. Severe drought is crippling winter wheat production in the middle of the country, agricultural production in many areas of California is being hit extremely hard by unprecedented flooding, and orange production in Florida is down more than 60 percent from last season due to a combination of factors.
Of course, this comes at a time when the entire world is dealing with a major food crisis. As I discussed in a previous article, even CNN is admitting that we are currently in the midst of “the worst food crisis in modern history”.
