Top Russian MP suggests how Ukraine operation might end
The conflict will conclude once Kiev is ready to negotiate, the head of the State Duma Defense Committee has said
Moscow’s military offensive in Ukraine could come to an end if Kiev agrees to negotiate, the head of Russia’s State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov claimed on Wednesday.
The operation “will develop in accordance with the plan, and, I think, will end when the current Ukrainian leadership is ‘ripe’ for negotiations,” Kartapolov said in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency. He said the situation on the ground has changed and that Kiev’s forces are beginning to crack.
The last round of face-to-face talks between the two countries was held on March 29 in Istanbul, where Kiev proposed penning an international agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine in return for agreeing to the neutral status that Russia has been demanding since before the conflict began.
Ukraine gave ‘assurances’ about US-supplied weapons – Blinken
The US trusts Ukraine’s word about using HIMARS against Russia
Kiev has given Washington assurances that US-supplied rocket launchers won’t be used to attack targets inside Russian territory, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday. He was the latest US official to raise the issue, as Moscow voiced concerns over the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Blinken was asked about the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, the latest high-tech weapon the US has committed to sending Ukraine.
“The Ukrainians have given us assurances that they will not use these systems against targets on Russian territory,” Blinken said, adding, “There is a strong trust bond between Ukraine and the US, as well as with our allies and partners.”
Turkey to launch ‘anti-terrorist’ operation in Syria – Erdogan
Ankara plans to “clear” the Syrian cities of Tal Rifat and Manbij of “terrorists,” President Erdogan has said
Turkey will step up efforts to create a 30-kilometer-wide “security zone” alongside its southern border with Syria, the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.
The Turkish Armed Forces will launch an “anti-terrorist” operation, which will target the northern Syrian cities of Tal Rifat and Manbij in particular, he told a meeting of his Justice and Development (AK) Party in Ankara.
The president did not specify the date when the operation will start, and did not reveal the number of troops expected to take part.
Turkey considers Kurdish militias in northern Syria to be an extension of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) – a militant organization engaged in a decades-long conflict with Turkey.
Concerned about an Iranian attack, Israel boosts air-defense deployment
Israel has boosted the deployment of its air-defense systems due to concerns that Iran could retaliate for the May 22 assassination of a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer in Tehran, Kan News reported on Monday.
The move comes after the National Security Council took the unusual step on Monday of updating a travel advisory to Turkey, citing a tangible threat of Iranian attack on Israeli nationals there.
Israel simulates massive strike against Iran with hundreds of IDF aircraft
Hundreds of IAF aircraft, including fighter jets and refueling planes, took off overnight Wednesday from various bases to simulate striking targets far from Israel’s borders, including in Iran.
The exercise, part of the IDF’s monthlong Chariots of Fire drill, saw fighter jets, transport planes and refueling aircraft take off from several bases in Israel for Cyprus.
Israel has significantly increased its readiness level and has taken steps throughout the past year to prepare a credible military option against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Biden administration plans to sell Ukraine four MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones that can be armed with Hellfire missiles for battlefield use against Russia, three people familiar with the situation said.
The sale of the General Atomics-made drones could still be blocked by Congress, the sources said, adding that there is also a risk of a last minute policy reversal that could scuttle the plan, which has been under review at the Pentagon for several weeks.

America, Meet Your New Dictator-In-Chief: The President's Secret, Unchecked Powers
As the New York Times reports, “Newly disclosed documents have shed a crack of light on secret executive branch plans for apocalyptic scenarios—like the aftermath of a nuclear attack—when the president may activate wartime powers for national security emergencies.”
The problem, of course, is that we have become a nation in a permanent state of emergency.
Power-hungry and lawless, the government has weaponized one national crisis after another in order to expand its powers and justify all manner of government tyranny in the so-called name of national security.
The seeds of this present madness were sown almost two decades ago when George W. Bush stealthily issued two presidential directives that granted the president the power to unilaterally declare a national emergency, which is loosely defined as “any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions.”
Biden suggests banning 9mm ammo; calls it ‘high-caliber’
President Joe Biden took aim at “high-caliber” ammunition on Monday, which he said includes the popular 9mm handgun round, and suggested it should be banned.
After returning to the White House on Monday morning, reporters confronted Biden with questions on gun reform. Biden explained that during his time as a senator, he met with a trauma doctor, who Biden claims told him, “A .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out, may be able to get it, and save the life. A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.”
Ruble-yuan trade soars over 1,000%
Russia and China are ditching the US dollar in favor of national currencies
Russia and China are continuing to eliminate the US dollar from mutual trade as monthly volumes on the exchange of ruble and yuan have reportedly soared 1,067% to nearly $4 billion over the past three months.
According to Bloomberg calculations, some 25.91 billion yuan, or $3.9 billion, have been exchanged for rubles on the Moscow spot market so far in May, marking a twelvefold surge versus the volumes recorded in February, when Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine. The spike coincides with a rally in the ruble to a five-year high against the yuan and the US dollar.

China’s foreign minister tells Pacific leaders ‘don’t be too anxious’ after they reject regional security pact
Several Pacific nations reportedly want to defer action on the draft agreement or have it amended
Pacific countries have declined to sign up to a sweeping regional economic and security deal proposed by China, after a crucial meeting of Pacific foreign ministers and their Chinese counterpart on Monday.
China’s foreign minister Wang Yi is in the middle of a marathon tour of the region, visiting eight countries in 10 days, a trip that security experts have said represents a dramatic “uptick in tempo” of China’s push for influence in the region.
Israeli study links Covid vaccines to 25% increase in cardiac arrest
A new disturbing study conducted by Israeli researchers and published in Nature demonstrated an over 25 percent increase in cardiovascular-related emergency calls in the young-adult population after the rollout of corona vaccines. The victims included both men and women. No similar increase was found among those who contracted coronavirus naturally.
The study was examined by fact-checkers from Reuters who criticize social media users that use the findings as proof that the covid vaccine causes heart attacks writing that: “the study itself does not prove a correlation with COVID-19 vaccines, though social media posts suggest that it does.”
European NGO Pushes for '1984-Style’ App to Report 'Hate Speech’
Smartphone app encourages people to report 'hate speech'
NGOs in Europe are pushing for a China-style software app to report instances of racism, hate speech, and “digital violence.”
Progressive NGOs in Europe have been enlisting the general public to assist them in their crusade against so-called hate speech.
One organization employs a China-style smartphone app to encourage people to tattle on those in breach of social progressive norms.
Rising to prominence in the German media thanks to its role in a recent sting operation rolled out against the police, censorious NGO HateAid has encouraged the public to report instances of what it calls “digital violence” to them using the organization’s custom-built software.
Federal ethics commissioner flooded with emails calling for investigation into WEF conspiracy
OTTAWA – The federal ethics commissioner’s office was flooded with over 1,000 emails, calls, letters and even faxes this winter from people asking it to investigate a conspiracy theory claiming some parliamentarians and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland are beholden to the World Economic Forum.

Ukrainian Military Unveils Unicorn LGBTQ Badge After Dropping Azov’s Neo-Nazi Insignia
Just one day after Ukraine’s neo-Nazi Azov Battalion announced they will drop the wolfsangel insignia from their patches, Western mainstream media began hyping a “unicorn LGBTQ” patch that is now being worn by Ukraine’s “LGBTQ soldiers” as they “head for war.”
According to mainstream media reports, Ukraine’s neo-Nazis dropped the wolfsangel from their patches because it was being “exploited by Russian propaganda.” (Yes, that’s right. Because it was being exploited by Russia, not because it was a symbol of their twisted Nazi ideology.)
Disaster Upon Disaster: Wildfires Are Contaminating The West’s Depleting Water With Ashy Sludge
CNN) — Officials in Las Vegas, New Mexico, had barely finished battling the massive Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak wildfire earlier this month before they had to point their defenses toward another threat: the ash-filled erosion that could pollute their water.
The fire-scarred land along the banks of the Gallinas River is on the forefront of Mayor Louie Trujillo’s mind these days. As much as the parched West needs rain, Trujillo and other officials are racing the weather to divert precious river water into a downstream lake before downpour comes and washes the burnt topsoil and ash into the river.
At least 18 have died from spreading Tick-borne virus that causes ‘nose-bleed fever’
“Nose-bleed fever” is as gruesome as it sounds. More technically called Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, the tick-borne virus has been detected in some 120 people in Iraq since January — including 18 who have died from the disease — health officials have warned, fearing an escalating spread.
The onset of illness causes rapid and severe internal and external bleeding in infected patients, including through the nose, hence its nickname “nose-bleed fever.” Though the virus is hosted in ticks, most individuals pick it up by coming in contact with infected animal blood — usually occurring among those who work with livestock and in slaughterhouses.

Water conservation measures are reaching farther and farther into our communities and now go beyond the water supply cuts felt by California farms and rural communities earlier this year.”
The California Farm Water Coalition represents agriculture water suppliers, water districts, agribusiness, farmers, as well as the supporting agribusinesses such as farm equipment suppliers, tractor manufacturers, and the like.
