Top Russian MP suggests how Ukraine operation might end
The conflict will conclude once Kiev is ready to negotiate, the head of the State Duma Defense Committee has said
Moscow’s military offensive in Ukraine could come to an end if Kiev agrees to negotiate, the head of Russia’s State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov claimed on Wednesday.
The operation “will develop in accordance with the plan, and, I think, will end when the current Ukrainian leadership is ‘ripe’ for negotiations,” Kartapolov said in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency. He said the situation on the ground has changed and that Kiev’s forces are beginning to crack.
The last round of face-to-face talks between the two countries was held on March 29 in Istanbul, where Kiev proposed penning an international agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine in return for agreeing to the neutral status that Russia has been demanding since before the conflict began.

Kiev has given Washington assurances that US-supplied rocket launchers won’t be used to attack targets inside Russian territory, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday. He was the latest US official to raise the issue, as Moscow voiced concerns over the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Blinken was asked about the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, the latest high-tech weapon the US has committed to sending Ukraine.
“The Ukrainians have given us assurances that they will not use these systems against targets on Russian territory,” Blinken said, adding, “There is a strong trust bond between Ukraine and the US, as well as with our allies and partners.”

Turkey will step up efforts to create a 30-kilometer-wide “security zone” alongside its southern border with Syria, the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.
The Turkish Armed Forces will launch an “anti-terrorist” operation, which will target the northern Syrian cities of Tal Rifat and Manbij in particular, he told a meeting of his Justice and Development (AK) Party in Ankara.
The president did not specify the date when the operation will start, and did not reveal the number of troops expected to take part.
Turkey considers Kurdish militias in northern Syria to be an extension of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) – a militant organization engaged in a decades-long conflict with Turkey.
Concerned about an Iranian attack, Israel boosts air-defense deployment
Israel has boosted the deployment of its air-defense systems due to concerns that Iran could retaliate for the May 22 assassination of a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer in Tehran, Kan News reported on Monday.
The move comes after the National Security Council took the unusual step on Monday of updating a travel advisory to Turkey, citing a tangible threat of Iranian attack on Israeli nationals there.
Israel simulates massive strike against Iran with hundreds of IDF aircraft
Hundreds of IAF aircraft, including fighter jets and refueling planes, took off overnight Wednesday from various bases to simulate striking targets far from Israel’s borders, including in Iran.
The exercise, part of the IDF’s monthlong Chariots of Fire drill, saw fighter jets, transport planes and refueling aircraft take off from several bases in Israel for Cyprus.
Israel has significantly increased its readiness level and has taken steps throughout the past year to prepare a credible military option against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Biden administration plans to sell Ukraine four MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones that can be armed with Hellfire missiles for battlefield use against Russia, three people familiar with the situation said.
The sale of the General Atomics-made drones could still be blocked by Congress, the sources said, adding that there is also a risk of a last minute policy reversal that could scuttle the plan, which has been under review at the Pentagon for several weeks.

Biden suggests banning 9mm ammo; calls it ‘high-caliber’
President Joe Biden took aim at “high-caliber” ammunition on Monday, which he said includes the popular 9mm handgun round, and suggested it should be banned.
After returning to the White House on Monday morning, reporters confronted Biden with questions on gun reform. Biden explained that during his time as a senator, he met with a trauma doctor, who Biden claims told him, “A .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out, may be able to get it, and save the life. A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.”

Russia and China are ditching the US dollar in favor of national currencies
Russia and China are continuing to eliminate the US dollar from mutual trade as monthly volumes on the exchange of ruble and yuan have reportedly soared 1,067% to nearly $4 billion over the past three months.
According to Bloomberg calculations, some 25.91 billion yuan, or $3.9 billion, have been exchanged for rubles on the Moscow spot market so far in May, marking a twelvefold surge versus the volumes recorded in February, when Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine. The spike coincides with a rally in the ruble to a five-year high against the yuan and the US dollar.
China launching third aircraft carrier within days: report
The shipyard in Shanghai where China has been building its third aircraft carrier appears to be wrapping up its work and, according to a military insider who spoke with the South China Morning Post on Wednesday, it will launch in a matter of days.
The military insider, who is familiar with China’s aircraft carrier projects, said the launch of China’s Type 003 carrier, from its Jiangnan shipyard on Shanghai’s Changxing Island, will coincide with China’s Dragon Boat Festival on Friday, June 3.

A new disturbing study conducted by Israeli researchers and published in Nature demonstrated an over 25 percent increase in cardiovascular-related emergency calls in the young-adult population after the rollout of corona vaccines. The victims included both men and women. No similar increase was found among those who contracted coronavirus naturally.
The study was examined by fact-checkers from Reuters who criticize social media users that use the findings as proof that the covid vaccine causes heart attacks writing that: “the study itself does not prove a correlation with COVID-19 vaccines, though social media posts suggest that it does.”
