Battle for Donbass has started — Ukraine
Kiev says the “second phase of the war” has begun
The second phase of the Russian offensive has started, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his advisers claimed on Monday. The government in Kiev said there were reports of heavy fighting on the Donetsk, Lugansk, and Kharkov fronts, and that Ukrainian troops were holding the line.
“We can now confirm that Russian troops have begun the battle for the Donbass, which they have been preparing for a long time,”Zelensky said in a video posted on Telegram on Monday evening.
“A large part of the Russian army is now dedicated to this offensive,” he added.
Russian village shelled from Ukraine
A civilian was wounded in the attack, the governor says
Another Russian village was attacked from Ukraine early on Tuesday, the governor of the southwestern Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov has said.
The village of Golovchino, located some 10km from the Ukrainian border, was targeted, the governor announced on his Telegram channel.
A local woman was wounded in the attack and is now “receiving all necessary medical assistance,” he wrote.
Torture of Donbass Civilians in Secret Mariupol Prison
The republics of Donetsk and Lugansk (DPR, LPR) announced their independence from Ukraine following a coup in Kiev in February 2014. In response, Ukraine launched a military operation against the fledgling states, which escalated into a genocidal war against the Donbass population.
A secret prison, dubbed 'The Library', in which Ukrainian forces and nationalists like the Dnipro Battalion tortured Donbass militia fighters and civilians, used to operate at the Mariupol airport in 2014-2015. The prison had a special torture room in a separate building, where people suspected of sympathising with the separatist republics were subject to inhumane treatment.

In the footage, the officer, Lt. Colonel Nikolay Biryukov, explains that it would have been “senseless to leave troops on the battlefield,” and openly acknowledges the “local population” in Mariupol was “negatively disposed towards the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

A U.S federal judge in Florida ruled on Monday that Biden’s mask mandate on public transportation including airports and transit hubs is “unlawful” because it exceeded the statutory authority of the CDC and it violated the administrative law.
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle overturned Biden’s mask mandate, claiming it unconstitutional.
“The Court concludes that the Mask Mandate exceeds the CDC’s statutory authority and violates the procedures required for agency rulemaking under the [Administrative Procedure Act],” Judge Mizelle stated in her ruling.
“The Court DECLARES UNLAWFUL and VACATES the Mask Mandate, remanding it to the CDC for further proceedings consistent with this order,” Mizelle added.
TSA will not enforce Covid mask mandate on planes, public transit after court ruling, White House says
The Transportation Security Administration will not enforce the mask mandate on public transportation, after a federal judge in Florida on Monday vacated the Biden administration’s national Covid mask mandate for planes and other forms of public transportation, ruling that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had overstepped its authority.
The CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks on public transit, a Biden administration official said.

WHO and public officials consider using pandemic treaty to sanction sovereign nations
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the German Health Minister are saying that countries disobeying regulations dictated by the WHO through their pandemic treaty may need to be sanctioned.
According to German Health Minister Jens Spahn Spahn, sanctioning China might have been helpful to pressure the country into releasing details about the origins of COVID early on in the pandemic and may be a valuable tool in the future.
“I have asked myself several times, if it had started in Germany or a European country, or the U.S., how would we have cooperated with the WHO? Because of course, there are so many dimensions to it: politics, prestige, science,” Spahn said. He added that a debate regarding sanctions is “not an easy debate, but I think it is a necessary debate.”
