Ukrainian naval drones target Crimean Bridge – MOD

At least three hostile unmanned boats were detected and destroyed in the Black Sea, according to the Russian military

Multiple attempted attacks by Ukrainian maritime drones on the strategic bridge which links the Crimean Peninsula to the Russian mainland were foiled on Friday evening and early Saturday morning, the Russian Defense Ministry claims.

“On September 1, at about 11:15pm Moscow time, the Kiev regime attempted to launch a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge using a semi-submersible unmanned boat,” the ministry said in a brief statement, adding that the hostile craft was “promptly detected and destroyed” in the Black Sea.

Russia has always been and remains “absolutely invincible,” President Vladimir Putin told a group of students at an open lesson marking the start of the academic year on Friday. The mentality of the Russian people makes it impossible for the country to be defeated by anyone, he added.

The president recalled the history of his own family, telling students about his ancestors who lived through World War II.

Russia Puts Its Longest Range Nuke-Capable Missile On Combat Duty, Nicknamed 'Satan II'

Russia has on Friday announced its Sarmat ICBMs are on "combat duty". RIA has quoted the head of the country's space agency Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, to confirm: "the Sarmat strategic complex has been put on combat duty."

The nuclear-capable Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile system was previously touted by President Putin as being capable hitting "any target on Earth" - and is widely believed to be by far the longest-range missile in Russia's arsenal (or in the world for that matter). It's been nicknamed by NATO the "Satan II". 

CIA Vet: US Aiding Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russian Nuclear Power Plants

A Ukrainian drone attacked the town of Kurchatov, home to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, on September 1. Kiev is using the Pentagon's intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems to conduct the strikes, former CIA analyst Larry Johnson told Sputnik.

Ukraine's unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was confirmed to have hit a non-residential building in Kurchatov, causing minor damage to the facade. There were no casualties.

US to send depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine – Reuters

New controversial weapon shipment may be announced as early as next week

The US is set to become the second country after the UK to greenlight shipments of depleted-uranium shells to Ukraine, according to Reuters, despite concerns that such munitions could have a dramatic negative effect on public health and the environment.

The munitions are intended for US Abrams tanks, the first of which are expected to arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks, the agency reported. According to several unnamed US officials and a “document” cited by Reuters on Saturday, the depleted uranium shells will be part of the next multi-million dollar arms donation expected to be announced next week.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the Russian city of Sochi on September 4, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on Friday.

While the exact list of topics to be discussed has not been officially announced, Peskov stated in early August that the agenda of an in-person meeting between the two presidents would include bilateral relations, the Ukraine conflict, and the Black Sea grain deal.

Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Lebanon on a short visit from Syria, the pro-Iran Al-Mayadeen media said. He had been in Syria to meet Syrian regime leader Bashir al-Assad.

Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik aired the allegations on state TV on Thursday night, saying Iranian intelligence had uncovered a “multi-year” sabotage operation intended to disrupt the country’s military development.

Massive wildfire breaks out in Walker County, Texas - with THOUSANDS urged to evacuate their homes

Officials in Texas are urging residents to flee their homes after a massive wildfire broke out north of Houston. According to the Walker County Office of Emergency Management, a major fire erupted Friday afternoon in a wooded area along Lost Indian Camp Road.

The latest update from officials said that the fire had stretched to encompass 1,200 acres and had been contained by ten percent.  Just hours previously, the fire was estimated to be spread out across 100 acres, before growing to 500 acres, and then 1000 acres - prompting officials to ask those living nearby to flee.

The social media platform formerly known as Twitter can now harvest your biometric data and DNA.

A new update quietly added to the platform's privacy policy says that X now has permission to harvest its users' fingerprints, retinal scans, voice and face recognition and keystroke patterns. The update would mean that anyone who uses fingerprint verification to log in to the app from their phone, posts selfies or videos to the platform or speaks their mind on X 'spaces' could see their unique biometric data catalogued by the company.

“The drones are going to be responding to non-priority calls and priority calls,” NYPD Assistant Commissioner Kaz Daughtry said at a press conference yesterday. “For example, if we have any 311 calls on our non-emergency line where if a caller states there’s a large crowd, a large party in the backyard, we’re going to be utilizing our assets to go up, to go check on the party, to make sure if the call is founded or not, and we’ll be able to determine how many resources we need to send to that location for this weekend. So we will have our drone teams out there starting tonight, all the way into Monday morning.”
